Award-winning folk musician Will Pound and friends

A celebration of the year in folk dance, Through the Seasons gives audiences a chance to experience three exceptional musicians as they showcase beautiful arrangements of traditional dance tunes and songs, with Will's innovative and playful style from all the joy of a summer’s festival to the thrill of a winter’s fireside rapper sword-dance.

Will is joined by Benji Kirkpatrick (Bellowhead, Faustus, The Transports) and Ross Grant (Inlay). Debs Newbold weaves a captivating story through the music with a vibrancy and power that will leave audiences captivated.

Together Will and his collaborators bring the Morris and folk dance year to life, creating a unique and powerful experience in English culture for audiences of all ages. With guest appearance by the famous Ilmington Morris.

Tickets £15 (£17 on the door) will be on sale from 1 March from Ilmington Community Shop or by calling Bryan on 01608 682996.

Quiz Night

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the Village Hall Quiz Night on 3 February such a great success. This sold-out event raised £776 for village hall funds. Special thanks to Derek and Sally for devising and presenting another fun and fiendish test of general knowledge.

Silent movie night

On 16 December, arts platform Hand Of will arrive in Ilmington with the astonishing Zeiss’ Travelling Cinematograph in tow.

The Zeiss Travelling Cinematograph is a 1920s style travelling cinema and pictoral concert party for all the family, bringing the amazing marvel of moving pictures to Ilmington Village Hall.

The Zeiss Travelling Cinematograph will present one of the finest Christmas motion pictures of all time, brought to life by the inimitable piano virtuoso Isobel Williams, who will be providing a live and improvised score - it has to be seen to be believed!

This is cinema like you’ve never seen before – cinema as it was a hundred years ago. The mechanical whirrs of the projectors, the flickering bulbs, the jeopardy of an improvised live soundtrack. This is the magic that made the world fall in love with film.

Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions). Doors at 7pm; Concert at 8pm; Carriages at 10pm.

VJ Commemoration Concert

The excellent Stour Concert Brass will be performing at Ilmington Village Hall at 7.30pm on Friday 14 August to mark the 70th anniversary of VJ Day and the end of World War Two.

It is hoped as many local people as possible will attend this special musical event in tribute to the servicemen and women who fought in the Far East.

Admission at £4 will include tea/coffee or a soft drink. Accompanied children under-16 are welcome free of charge. For tickets (available from 22 June), please contact Brian Lighthill (682048) or Lis Ribbans (682420).

Further details will be posted here and on parish noticeboards in coming weeks.
